3 American Girls get their 1st tattoos at Eternal Expression Bangalore

The artist might have employed the best of techniques and the best of whatnot. Still, A tattoo is only as good as you take care of it!

The Best Tattoo Artist In Bangalore and other top tattooists around the world certainly agree with this!

BE PREPARED TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN TAKING CARE OF YOUR NEW TATTOO

If you are getting your first tattoo or thinking of getting one, then you will need to prepare beforehand on the best practices to make your tattoo look as fresh as possible –

After your awesome tattoo is inked: into your skin, the tattoo artist may apply some anti-bacterial on top of it and bandage it. Keep it on for a while. It will collect all the lymph fluid and drip out. Make sure that you do not suffocate the wound. You should remove the wrap in a dust-free zone within 90mins!

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THE HYGIENE OF YOUR NEW TATTOO

During the time it takes to fully heal – about 2 to 3 weeks, be conscious about how you treat your tattoo –

Wash it with lukewarm water regularly for the entire period. Take warm sponge baths. But be careful not to let your tattoo soak in water. Use anti-bacterial non-fragrant soaps. Pat dry your tattoo using paper towels and do not rub on it.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR NEW TATTOO PROPERLY HYDRATED

Keep the tattoo well hydrated. For the first few days, apply the ointment and then switch over to lotion. Remember to blot the extra as otherwise, it can cause the ink to seep out.

Tattoo specific Salve, made by different brands!

People forget that tattoos are wounds. You will need to be as careful with it as you would be with any other! When scabs form: do not pick on them as it removes the ink. Picking also leads to scarring.
Firstly, allow the scabs to dry. If wet: Apply ointment or lotion on them only after about fifteen minutes or so. You can also apply them to prevent them from tugging against the skin and causing pain.

AVOIDING DIRECT SUNLIGHT

Avoid friction. For example, avoid wearing tight clothes.

Do not do heavy physical activity till the healing is complete to avoid excess sweating. You do not want to wet your scabs.

Use a sunblock rated with a minimum SPF of 30 To avoid fading and keep colours solid; as new skin cells form!

Sunscreen is a great practice, for the long term, even beyond the preliminary aftercare of 21 days!

Avoid Sunlight
Do Not Itch
Avoid Soaking
Do Not Stretch

Ok without, further ado.
Let’s break down the aftercare process into a concisely-structured routine starting right from the day you got tattooed ( Day 0 ) onwards!

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR NEW TATTOO? THE GOLDEN METHOD!

IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING A TATTOO

Day 0

Remove the protective wrap* within 1 hour after the tattoo. Dab it dry with a clean tissue. (*unless the artist has used Tatu Derm or Dermalize-Pro In which case the wrap can be left as it is; on the tattoo until the next day or till excess plasma is visible through the film)

Day 1

In the morning, while bathing, avoid a lot of exposure to water. It certainly is best to avoid water altogether if possible or have a sponge bath!

After the bath: Dab the tattoo with a tissue soaked in warm rock salt solution

Further, Repeat the wet tissue dab later in the evening.

Day 2+3

Early morning( 30-36 hours after the tattooing process!):

Apply the 1st coat of A&D / TattooGoo massage for at least 2minutes in tiny circles.

Before bathing, apply a thicker coat of this cream, so it acts as a waterproof layer! You can then bathe as usual: the water would roll over the skin without penetrating the tattoo, but do not expose it to soap!

After bathing, continue paper-thin coats of A&D / TattooGoo rubbed in hard 5-6 times through the span of a day for 21days.

Day 4-21

Start using Baby soap on the tattoo while bathing every day with regular water. Then continue A&D / TattooGoo application 5-6 times a day as usual.

 *Also Remember

+AVOID ITCHING
+DO NOT EXPOSE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT
+AVOID SOAKING WATER
+AVOID HEAVY STRETCHING/WORKOUT ON THE TATTOO REGION

Day 21~

For general maintenance, use a Sunblock when you plan to be out under the Sun or hang out on the beach for long hours.

Apply a waterproof sunblock in the day or a thick coat of Petroleum jelly during the night when you go out to a water world or your local swimming pool that could have chlorinated water and bleaching agents
All the best!

All the best!
